The CODES project aims to support the fashion and design (F&D) sector in addressing the transformations of a constantly evolving world: market trends and business models, technological innovation and work distribution, sustainability concepts to be integrated into design processes. The overall objective of the project is therefore to promote innovative business models that address market transformations, based on new forms of collaborative artistic creation, thanks to the enabling potential of digital technologies.

The project involves promoting a participatory approach and open exchange on the needs and opportunities of the fashion and design sector. This led to the design and development of the CODES collaborative platform, an online tool to encourage interaction between fashion/design professionals and the creation of innovative and sustainable products. To test the platform, a ‘research residency’ was organised for designers and stylists to initiate a co-design process between designers and customers, in the form of a cooperative activity to be carried out online once the residency was over. At the final event of the CODES Festival, the methodologies and results obtained were presented and perspectives and visions were shared among stakeholders.

The development of a participatory and collaborative approach between operators and the creation of an online collaborative platform represent an approach that can be applied to various fields in the manufacturing sector.
