The objectives of the DIGITsmart project concern the digitalisation of the archive material of the City of Kastela and the Giuseppe Di Vagno Foundation, with the uploading of digital documents to the GIS system. The development of a user-friendly interface for accessing the documentation is also planned.

To achieve these objectives, the DIGITsmart project began by analysing the status quo of the documentation to be digitised, followed by scouting for selected technologies to choose the one best suited to the needs expressed. Guidelines were then drawn up for the digitisation of archive materials, including the results of the scouting and with a specific focus on the selected technology, two pilot actions that will allow the digitisation of the archive material and the platform that hosts it to be tested. The project involves the digitisation of the documentation held by the City of Kastela and the Giuseppe Di Vagno Foundation and the uploading of this documentation to the GIS system.

The jointly developed digitisation solutions are adopted by each of the partner cities. The ultimate goal of the project is to provide easy access to archive materials without legal and administrative restrictions, making the materials available to everyone regardless of location.
